Terry Fox Foundation
Terry Fox was a hero to many, he was born in Winnipeg on July 28, 1958 and diagnosed with bone cancer in his right leg in 1977 and he had his leg amputated. While he was in the hospital, the suffering of other cancer victims affected him in such a way that he decided to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research.

By February 1, 1981, he had raised 24.17 million for cancer research. He died in June 1981. On May 26, 1988, The Terry Fox Run became a Trust, independent from Canadian Cancer Society. Now, every year in September, schools have a Terry Fox run which raises more money for cancer research.

The Terry Fox Foundation is responsible for raising up to 20 million each year in Canada. To date, over 600 million has been raised for cancer research in Terry’s name! The foundation not only raises money for research, but it also continues to share the story of Terry Fox. The Terry Fox foundation strives to maintain the heroic effort that Terry had.
